MaLaYSiaKiNi: "SePT 16 TaRGeT MaY NoT Be ACHieVeD As PLaNNeD"....

P/s: It has been expected that the crossover won't make it as easy as we think earlier. BN's party components especially UMNO were in the 'panic mode' over the past few weeks as the date of 16th Sept 2008 is just around the corner. Anything could be happen as today is Anwar's 2nd gruesome trial and we don't even know whether this time he'll be released on bail or put behind bars so that he will not going to have any opportunity to take over the Putrajaya as he has planned before. As we all knew that 49 BN's MPs were in the middle of nowhere in Taiwan for such a 'luxurious vacation' in the middle of ramadhan month for the purpose of ridiculously studying the way of Taiwan's agricultural sectors. Right in the middle of these uncertainties situation, come out clashes between UMNO's Bukit Bendera Chief and Ex-Penang's CM over the 'racism' remarks made by both parties. Everything happens so fast and co-currently due to the fact that BN government will be toppled down sooner or later.

#UPDATE FROM THE COURT: P/s: Court dismiss early today as Anwar's lawyers were be given ample time until 24 Sept 2008 by the judge to make counter defence on to demolishing the case that will be brought to the High Court level.

THE STAR ONLINE: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s targeted date of Sept 16 to capture the Government may not be achieved due to anticipated problems delaying the transition of power. “After discussing with PAS and DAP, the date can be postponed even though our target was Sept 16 previously. “However, I believe the present Government will find it difficult to quell the uproar of the rakyat,” Anwar said during his speech after a solat tawarikh and hajat ceremony at his home here last night.

The Pakatan Rakyat leader had initially proclaimed that his takeover would happen on Sept 16. He added that detailed discussions would be held with Pakatan component parties PKR, PAS and DAP to study any possible consequences. “The meeting on Pakatan’s preparations for Sept 16 will be held tomorrow evening or the following day,” Anwar said, adding that he had to follow court proceedings before that.

“We definitely have sufficient numbers (of MPs) but we would have to wait first as they are currently ‘enjoying Ramadan’ in Taiwan,” said Anwar sarcastically. He said he had information that the MPs, who went on the Taiwan trip were not allowed to return before Sept 16 in order to thwart the Pakatan takeover.

#UPDATE ON THE ANWAR'S TRIAL (THE STAR ONLINE): The Kuala Lumpur sessions court on Wednesday postponed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy case to Sept 24 to allow the prosecution and defence time to prepare arguments on transferring the case to the High Court. The prosecution had applied for the case to be transferred to the high court. Anwar's lawyers objected to the transfer. Earlier Wednesday, there was heavy police presence outside the Jalan Duta court complex here in anticipation of the expected crowd. Several truckloads of FRU personnel were deployed in addition to armed uniformed policemen.

Anwar arrived at the court complex at 9.30am in a black Mazda MPV. He was accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, daughter and lawyer Sankara Nair. Speaking to reporters, Anwar said: "I'm not sure what will happen in court today. I hope bail would not be withheld. There is no basis for the charge in the first place so why talk about the bail?" His lawyer Sankara said: "If the DPP wants to deny Anwar bail, they'll have to apply and we will respond. The same goes for transferring the case to another court."

Commenting on the Sept 16 deadline for the opposition to form a new government, Anwar said, "Is Sept 16 on track? Very much so. We will comment on that issue in the next one or two days. Next trip, Taipei!" The PKR adviser was charged on Aug 7 with sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. He pleaded not guilty. He is accused of committing the offence at Desa Damansara Condominium in Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara, between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26. If convicted, he can be jailed up to 20 years and whipped for voluntarily committing unnatural sex under Section 377B of the Penal Code.
